David Birkin GDC No.103299
BDS MFGDP PGCert (Endodontology)
David graduated from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne with Distinction in Clinical Dentistry in 2006. He has since undertaken extensive postgraduate training and is currently studying a diploma in primary care orthodontics. He is a Trainer for graduate dentists using his experience to provide further training and guidance to dentists who have just qualified from Dental School.
As lead partner at Alpha Dental in Catterick since 2008, David provides a high standard of care as an NHS dentist as well as a growing number of Private patients. He has a particular interest in providing cosmetic dentistry including composite (white) fillings and aesthetic improvements with porcelain crowns.
Outside of work, David likes to keep him self active and has a young family. As a lover of the outdoors, David enjoys taking advantage of the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside walking the family dog. He plays both rugby and squash and enjoys a challenge taking part in several events for Charity including the Para10, the London Marathon, the Great North Run and the Guide Dog 100k in 24 hours to name a few.
David enjoys being part of the fantastic, friendly team here at Alpha and encourages patients to to book in for an examination or discussion appointment.

Haytham Abbas GDC No. 101012
Born in Egypt, but raised in Hong Kong, Haytham moved to the UK to study dentistry in Newcastle, where he fell for the charm of the North East and he has lived in the area ever since!
After qualifying in 2005, Haytham started off his career in a competitive hospital training program which led him to focus on his interest in Oral Surgery. He spent the next 5 years gaining experience in a wide range of surgical procedures with the support of some of the finest consultants in Maxillofacial surgery. In 2010, he was given the opportunity to work in a large sedation based dental clinic. He gained vast experience treating hundreds of patients under sedation whilst carrying out a wide variety of dental treatments. Alongside his clinical commitments, Haytham enrolled onto the Warwick University Dental Implantology Diploma. In 2014 he was awarded his Diploma in dental Implantology and has since helped hundreds of patients regain their smiles and function with the aid of dental implants.

Nabeel Abdul-Kadir GDC No. 150769
Nabeel graduated from Newcastle Dental School in 2017 and joined Alpha Dental Studio at Catterick as a trainee dentist.
He stayed on after his training because he enjoyed the support of the excellent team and exceptional colleagues at Alpha.
The best part of his job is seeing how happy he can make patients, whether it’s relieving them from pain, restoring their faith in dentists, or regaining the confidence in their smile.

Emily Lovegreen GDC No. 243789
Emily graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 2013, completing her General Professional training in Newcastle Dental Hospital and in a general practice in Marton, Middlesbrough.
Emily went on to complete a Senior House Officer year in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The James Cook University hospital. She continues to work there as a Speciality Doctor in Oral Surgery, and has recently joined the Sleep Apnoea Team at James Cook providing Mandibular advancement devices as an alternative to CPAP.
She joined Alpha in 2016 as an associate dentist with interests in Oral Surgery, Restorative Aesthetic Dentistry and Facial Aesthetics, and now more recently, Anti-Snoring devices. Emily is an advanced practitioner in facial aesthetics providing anti-wrinkle treatments and dermal fillers.
When she isn’t in the Surgery, you can find her tending to her vegetable garden with her two children or experimenting in the kitchen with homemade bakes, preserves and chutneys.

Kirsty Todd GDC No. 258105
After receiving her dental degree from UCLan in 2015, Leeds-born Kirsty returned to Yorkshire to complete her Foundation training at Alpha Dental in Bedale. Choosing to stay on with Alpha, she can now be found working between their Catterick and Bedale practices.
Kirsty enjoys the variety that general dentistry brings, but particularly enjoys working with anxious patients - helping to build their confidence and get them smiling at their dental visits again.
Outside of work, Kirsty enjoys spending quality time with her husband, socialising with friends and family, arts and crafts and Harry Potter (check out her socks!).

Angela Daniel GDC No. 77794
Qualified from the University of Sheffield in 2000, worked as a dentist in the RAF until 2006 then worked in Cheshire before moving to North Yorkshire, joining Alpha in 2008. Attained a Certificate in Mentoring in Dentistry from FGDP(UK) in 2011 and a Postgraduate Certificate in Healthcare Education from Sheffield Hallam in 2014. Enjoys providing a wide range of treatments to her patients and also helping them to improve their own oral health.

Rebecca Speakman GDC No. 296249
After graduating from Newcastle Dental School in 2021, Rebecca joined Alpha Catterick to complete her foundation training year. She stayed on at the practice having enjoyed the rural location and team atmosphere at Catterick.
Other than a brief time living in Australia, Rebecca grew up in Lancashire and in her spare time likes to travel back home to see family. She was a keen sports player growing up and still likes to keep fit and spend time outside in the Yorkshire countryside.
Rebecca regularly works on our emergency clinics and likes to offer a friendly face and relaxed environment to ensure even the most nervous of patients feel at ease.

Judith Barham GDC No. 64476
Judith qualified in London in 1989 and worked in General Dental Practice in SE London and Kent for over 30 years before relocating to North Yorkshire.
She enjoys the challenges of General Dental Practice and is passionate that every child should be able to access regular dental care.
Over the years Judith has been involved with Foundation Dental Training of new dental graduates and with the wider dental team, mentoring nurses and technicians through their qualifications. She was an active member of the Local Dental Committee in Kent and involved with addressing local and national challenges of NHS dentistry.
With two law degrees, she has been involved with the teaching of Medical Law and Ethics to her peers, specialising in Safeguarding, Capacity and Consent.
In her spare time, Judith enjoys exploring her new home county, as well as walking, swimming and playing her cello with local groups. She is a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader and volunteers for several local organisations, including her most recent appointment as an Engagement Officer with the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, where she will be helping under represented and vulnerable groups access the outdoors for their physical and mental well being.
