New Technology

We pride ourselves on using the latest technology including Intra-oral cameras and digital x-rays.

CT Scanner

We are proud to announce that we have recently installed a top of the range CT scanner at our Whickham practice. The Village Dental Practice is one of only four practices in the north east to install a Planmeca Promax 3D scanner!

The Planmeca Promax is a 3D imaging device that produces all required volume sizes for diagnosing the maxillofacial region – from the smallest specialised cases to images of the entire.

CT scanners have become increasingly important in treatment planning and diagnosis in dentistry. They can be used to help with dental implants and endodontics. Dr Ghai, principal dentist, said ‘We believe this will benefit us hugely and allow us to give our patients the best possible dental treatment and ensure we achieve the highest standards by allowing us to attain a higher level of treatment planning.’

Prices start from £25 for a child or adult DPT and start from £167 for a CT scan.

Dental Microscope

We have just installed a high specification dental microscope which helps us to give you the best possible dental experience.

The OPMI® pico dental microscope makes details and fine structures clearly visible. It enables us to better visualize the regions of interest and consistently provide our patients with high-quality examinations and treatments.

The compact, high-performing, easy to use Ziess lens microscope offers support for the most demanding dental procedures – whether in restorative dentistry, endodontics, implantology or periodontics.

Mr Brannen is now currently undertaking his Masters in Endodontics with Kings College London to further his knowledge and clinical skills regarding Root Canal treatments.

With the help of the Ziess microscope Mr Brannen will be treating the straight forward to the more complex cases including retreatment of any failed previous root fillings. Endodontic treatment removes infected or damaged tissue from inside a tooth and allows the tooth to be maintained rather than have it removed.

The operating microscope enable us to see in much greater detail the inside of the tooth which leads to much improved success rates to endodontic treatment. Using the latest equipment and materials we hope to achieve the highest clinical standards.

Aquacare

In cutting mode, AquaCare is used for preparation of cavities without the need for anesthetic or drilling. The AquaCare cuts quickly but conservatively, minimizing the removal of sound tooth material and eliminating the risk of chipping or stress fracturing. Unlike conventional rotary cutting instruments, the AquaCare is not in direct contact with the tooth structure. Aquacare is also great for removing surface staining from your teeth.

The ITero Element Flex Scanner

The iTero scanner digitally captures the structure of the teeth and gums using the latest optical technology. The scanner is a compact, hand-held wand. Once your dentist begins the scanning process, it can be stopped and started as many times as necessary.
